What is the Linux Downloads Directory?
The Linux Downloads Directory, a section of Linux Forums (
http://www.linuxforums.org/ ), is a
Downloads Directory, that links to the various Linux applications out
there, from fully featured distributions to games. Users can submit new
applications, review new applications, vote for applications, submit new
versions for certain applications, edit existing applications, and set
up Watch Lists.
What are Watch Lists?
Users can add applications to their Watch Lists to "watch" them, so when
there is a new version of whatever application the user is watching,
an email is dispatched to the user informing him of the latest release.
That can be very effective if a user would always like to keep up to date.
Trusted Users? What's that and how to become a Trusted User?
Trusted Users are users who have more than 50 posts on the forums (
http://linuxforums.org/forum/ ), once a user reaches 50 posts on the
forums, he'll be able to submit new applications without them being
moderated. We developed this Directory having in mind giving back to the
community its moderation. So all trusted users are able to
approve/delete/edit new applications, as well as approve/delete/edit
updates. So, if you want to become a trusted user, jump to the forums
and make yourself 50 useful posts!
How to submit Downloads?
Easy, all you have to do is to log in or register if you are not yet
registered, click on the "Submit Download" link in the main menu, add
the information, and you're done! If you're a Trusted User ( see above
), your download will automatically appear in the directory, if not, a
Trusted User will review your submission, and approve it if appropriate.
